A Weeki Wachee High School teacher has been named the Hernando School District Teacher of The Year for 2023-2024. A social studies teacher at Weeki Wachee High School, Victoria “Tori” Hunt is a member of the 2012 F.V. Springstead graduating class.
In addition, she was the first student representative to the Hernando County School Board. That program encourages participating students to take a leadership role in their school communities.
Currently, Hunter still leads that program for 23 school delegates. Hunt received the award from Hernando School District Superintendent John Stratton, School Board Chairman Gus Guadagnino, and Tammy Brinker, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Hernando County Education Foundation (HCEF), during the Jan. 13 Teacher of The Year event hosted by HCEF.
