Hernando County School District (HCSD) Superintendent John Stratton’s contract is pending renewal upon an evaluation process. The evaluation results will be discussed on January 23, 2024, when they will become public record. Vice Chair Susan Duval gave board members the evaluation materials during the Dec. 12 workshop.
Stratton will be reviewed individually by the members of the school board on nine categories or rubrics, which are Leadership and District Culture, Policy and Governance, Communications and Community Relations, Organizational Management, Curriculum Planning Development, Instructional Leadership, Human Resources Management, Values And Ethics Of Leadership and Labor Relations.
Board members will meet individually with Stratton before January 19, 2024, and rate his performance in each rubric on a three-point scale, three being the highest. The total score is used to determine Stratton’s salary increase. A score of 19-21 will add $1000 to his $166,000 salary. Scores of 22-24 will increase his salary by $1,500 and over 25 will increase it by $2,000.
