On Jan. 8, the Brooksville City Council met for one of their regular meetings. Early in the proceedings, they recognized the work of Brooksville Main Street and allowed the organization to announce its new executive director during Monday’s forum. Jodi Young, the chair of Brooksville Main Street’s executive director search committee, noted the non-profit received 20 applications for the position and eventually narrowed the pool down to six qualified candidates before ultimately naming Dawn Triconi to the role. The long-time Hernando resident and Springstead High graduate succeeds former director Natalie Kahler, who stepped down in September of 2023.

“Dawn is an accomplished, goal-driven professional with over 20 years of experience in operations, marketing, accounting, and non-profit sectors,” Young said. “She has operational accountability in strategic planning, budgeting, financial management, and employee development. She has got extensive experience managing multiple projects and she has a proven track record of delivering, planning, and executing marketing campaigns and events. She is an innovative leader who is not afraid to push the envelope.”

Triconi’s career has also seen her travel around the country. She has worked as a troubleshooter for a large hotel chain in the Caribbean as well as a finance director for the United Way of Hernando County. The new executive director’s diverse portfolio includes serving as the event coordinator and later as the director of operations with the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce.

“We are extremely blessed and proud to welcome Dawn Triconi as our new executive director,” Young added.

Triconi’s career also saw her spend four years in New Hampshire while serving as the executive director for Intown Concord in New Hampshire. During her time living in Wolfeboro, Dawn produced events and programs that encouraged economic vitality in the downtown areas of Concord. This is her most applicable experience to her newest position as it is extremely similar to the one for which she was just named.

“Thank you all for the warm welcome and for the exciting opportunity to be a part of the city of Brooksville and Main Street[…]” Triconi said. “So, I welcome the opportunity and thank you, Mr. Mayor, the city council. I really appreciate the opportunity.”

The director has various interests, but her greatest passions are traveling and volunteering. Her preferred hobbies have also led her to the roles of service unit manager for the Girls Scouts of West Central Florida, New Hampshire Granite State Ambassador, Wolfeboro Rotary Club member, and co-chair of the
Hernando Country Greek Festival. After Triconi’s introduction, City Council Member Thomas Bronson voiced his appreciation for the volunteers at Brooksville Main Street and all the hard work they have put in over the years.

“A city doesn’t function without sacrifice,” Bronson said. “I can’t say it enough: the volunteers that work to make our town so special means everything to me. Without sacrifice, nothing gets done. To go without selfish ambition or vein conceit in anything they do, it just shows Christ in what y’all do. It means a lot to me and everyone else in this town in what you guys are doing for this community.”
