JANICE ZACHARKAN, 80, was reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, John, on December 19, 2023. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ on January 3, 1943, Janice was a proud graduate of Perth Amboy High School. In New Jersey, she went on to a prestigious career with Dupont Industries prior to moving to the Orlando area in 2002. While in Central Florida, Janice worked for Darden Restaurants, Universal Studios, Imagine Service Group and Imagine Design Group. In 2006, Janice joined forces with 20/20 Embroidery/Briesa, Inc, until her retirement in January 2023. Janice and her husband John moved to Spring Hill in 2004 and began enjoying all that the Nature Coast area has to offer.
Janice’s commitment to her community and helping others was remarkable. She volunteered with People Helping People and worked to help ease the burden of homeless people in the area. She was an invaluable volunteer for the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens, serving as the group’s Treasurer for many years. Her kindness extended to animals as well, rescuing her most recent 3 dogs and sponsoring wildlife programs at the Animal Adventure Park and Preserve in Binghamton, NY. Janice loved to travel, both on land tours and by cruise liner. Her work with Dupont took her all the way to South America, and she was immensely proud to have voyaged on no less than 12 Disney cruises. Janice was an avid reader and crafter, and in the past few years had begun working with both mosaic and stained glass with great success and enjoyment.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, John, her sister Barbara, and her brother Francis. She is survived and remembered by her sister Nancy (DE), friends JP Royer (FL) , Larry Winchowky (FL), and Chris Rehbein (FL), as well as by stepchildren John Zacharkan, Jr. (NJ), Ronald Zacharkan (NJ), Donald Zacharkan (GA), Tracy Nemeth (NJ) and Julianne Schneider (NJ) and by countless friends and loved ones in coastal and central Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens, 1489 Parker Avenue, Spring Hill, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens, the Animal Adventure Park and Preserve, or the Humane Society of the Nature Coast.
