Olympus Disc Golf will be able to expand recreational opportunities under a rezoning approved by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
The BOCC unanimously approved the request for rezoning the 59.1-acre site on the north side of Mondon Hill Road, west of Cooper Terrace. Olympus Disc Golf is currently operating on the site under a Conditional Use Permit to hold tournaments. The site, now zoned Planned Development Project – Recreational (PDP-REC) will allow the petitioner, McCease, LLC to expand the recreational land to add permanent parking, recreational vehicle (RV) parking, a clubhouse and a pickleball court. The site will also need water and septic facilities added.
Alan Garmin of ProCivil represented the applicant, and reported that Olympus has held numerous tournaments at the course, and is recognized as one of the top 12 disc golf courses in Florida. Such a distinction is expected to attract more players and visitors, and give a boost to area businesses.
