SPRING HILL- According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, a woman’s hard-earned paycheck was nearly snatched by a man lurking around the Bank of America on Commerical Way.
After her shift at a local hotel on June 30, at around 1:30 a.m., the woman attempted to deposit her paycheck at the Bank of America ATM at 6200 Commercial Way in Spring Hill. She stopped the transaction when she saw a man approaching her vehicle. The man was suspect David Lee Higgins, age 31.
The woman repeatedly honked her horn and attracted the attention of nearby Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Madden, who was conducting a traffic stop at a nearby gas station.
The victim told Deputy Madden that Higgins attempted to intercept the check from the ATM machine after she canceled the transaction and told her to “Give me that.”
Fortunately, the victim said she was able to roll up her window. Then she started honking her horn in order to attract the attention of the deputy.
Higgins was arrested and charged with attempted robbery by sudden snatching. He was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
