Early last Friday morning, July 12, around 2:15 a.m., a resident on Bayshore Court in Spring Hill called the police to report unknown people trying to break into their house. The homeowner heard kicking at their front door but couldn’t tell if anyone got inside. While officers were on their way, another resident on Sunrise Court called 911. They said three or four unknown people just tried to force their way in by repeatedly kicking their front door.
When deputies arrived at both homes, they found damage to the front doors from the kicks. Within minutes, they located three juveniles on Bayshore Drive, matching the suspect descriptions. The juveniles were identified as Xavier, Ayden, and Natalee.
After being informed of their rights, all three admitted to playing a game of “Ding, Dong, Ditch” that got out of hand because they were bored. They were all arrested on two counts of burglary of a dwelling.
“Ding, Dong, Ditch” is a popular prank on TikTok in which you ring a doorbell and run away. It is often combined with another TikTok trend, the “kick door challenge.” The three juveniles were each charged with two counts of Burglary of a Dwelling.
