Gloria E. Reynolds

Gloria Reynolds, of Spring Hill, Florida, and formerly of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, passed away on August 5 at age 97.
Glo was born in Hansen, Massachusetts, to Ed and Rose Ferris, as one of seven children. She attended Hanson Public Schools, Whitman High School, and Brockton Business College. Glo became a professional dancer at age 14, performing throughout New England, mostly with the USO. She also performed solo tap with the Whitman Review. Arthur Murray asked Glo to become a dance instructor for his organization. Gloria met her husband, Richard Marchant, in 1945 and they lived on Cape Cod, where they had two children, Kerry and Stacey. In 1959, she married Ted Reynolds, former police chief in Yarmouth who passed away in 2010. Glo was employed in the service department at Sears in Hyannis. She was always involved in her town and church, had many close friends, and loved entertaining in her home. Most importantly, she always spoke fondly of her extended family and had wonderful memories of multigenerational gatherings filled with love and laughter.
Glo and Ted retired and moved to Spring Hill, Florida, where she lived for the past 45 years. In Spring Hill, Glo once again became involved in her church, running youth groups, modeling for fundraisers, acting in plays, and especially singing in the choir as a proud first soprano until age 94.
Gloria is survived by Kerry Marchant and his wife Patsy of Centerville, Massachusetts, her brother Larry of Missouri, and her extended family including many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Stacey, and her siblings George Ferris of Kingston, MA, Janice Polan of Texas, Beverly Ferris of Hansen, MA, Barbara Blanchard of Dennisport, MA, and Bruce Ferris of Allentown, PA.
Kerry and Patsy would like to sincerely thank Glo’s friends especially Angie, Glenda, Lorrie, and Ceil for all of their love and help over the years.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 23, at 11:00 at Spring Life Church, 9344 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL, with a reception immediately following in the church hall. There will also be a graveside service at Ancient Cemetery in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, September 17 at 11:30, with a reception following.
