Thirty-one-year-old Isaac Lemons was convicted of Manslaughter and Sale of a Controlled Substance on Aug. 23, 2024. The jury deliberated for approximately 90 minutes.

In 2015, Isaac Lemons was arrested in connection with the death of 18-year-old Dylan Joseph Thornton. On September 12, 2015, Thornton went missing after his 18th birthday party. Dylan and a friend left the party in a disoriented state. They thought they were being followed and eventually parted ways.

Thornton was found dead on Sept. 15, 2015, south of the Duke Energy transfer station off Crowell Road in Brooksville.

Lemons was the DJ at Thornton’s birthday party and according to investigators, he was asked to bring some “Molly” with him to the party. Molly is a street drug containing amphetamines. What Lemons actually brought to the party was determined to be “Flakka,” a dangerous drug that is similar to the street drug commonly known as bath salts.

The Medical Examiner who performed the autopsy on Dylan ruled his cause of death as Alpha-PVP toxicity. Alpha-PVP is commonly referred to as “Flakka.”

“The adverse reactions of α-PVP mainly include mania, tachycardia, and hallucinations,” states the Journal of Molecular Science, Flakka: New Dangerous Synthetic Cathinone on the Drug Scene.

Lemons was charged with Third-Degree Murder and Sale of a Controlled Substance. On Aug. 3, 2021, a jury was unable to reach a verdict and a mistrial was declared. The jury last week found Lemons guilty of the lesser charge of Manslaughter. His sentencing will take place on Nov. 7, 2024.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Robert Lewis and Melissa Underwood. Attorney Debra Tuomey represented the Defendant.
