Brooksville, FL—Brooksville Elks Lodge #2582 has presented a $4,000 check to People Helping People (PHP), a local nonprofit, as part of the Lodge Beacon Grant. This funding will aid PHP’s Weekend Blessing program, providing essential weekend meal bags for K-8 students who struggle with food insecurity. The program delivers meal sacks weekly, ensuring children have nutritious options during the weekends.
The grant will also support PHP’s Senior Blessings initiative, which offers monthly food backpacks to senior citizens needing supplemental food resources. The Elks Lodge plays an active role in packing and distributing these bags, currently filling and delivering 55 sacks per week to assigned schools. Other groups in the community have similar commitments to other schools within the county, with the overall effort demonstrating the importance of collaboration.
The Elks Lodge embodies the motto, “Elks Care—Elks Share,” showcasing its commitment to strengthening community bonds and supporting neighbors in need.
