The technical skills training program T-Volt needed $1,500 dollars to purchase liability insurance that would allow them to use a portion of the Quonset hut at the fairgrounds to provide basic skills in rough carpentry. The Quonset hut has the necessary ventilation to handle the sawdust generated by carpentry.
The community supported T-Volt raising more than double the amount required for the insurance. T-Volt received a $1,200 donation from the Timber Pines Military Veterans Club, several smaller donations and a $1,500 matching donation from Shawn E. May at Peak Financial. The check was presented by Shawn E. May to Mark Johnson, Arlene Glantz, and Joe Fox of the Timber Pines Military Veterans Club.
These donations will allow T-Volt to start a carpentry program for veterans as well as continue offering programs to teach entry level skills to the unemployed, underemployed, and high school seniors.
