BROOKSVILLE ELKS LODGE #2582
Brooksville Elks Lodge # 2582 received a grant from Elks National Foundation Community Investment Programs. The name of the grant is The Spotlight Grant. We were awarded $2000 to provide 100 personal supply bags for the Hernando County Homeless Population. Included in the bags were personal everyday items we all take for granted. Soap, shampoo, laundry soap, dish soap, bath towels and washcloths, socks, deodorant, snacks and water, flashlight, puzzle books and pens. We also included a small personal Coleman mess kit for those who cook and a tarp to help provide shelter when needed.
Gary and Debbie Ashness delivered 50 bags to the People Helping People facility on November 5th. They provide services and care to a large population of homeless individuals in the county. I delivered the other 50 bags to Marine Corp 708. Jim Bravico pictured with me, and the 708 Corp, partnered with us to provide a few of the items we put in the bags. The Corp also works with homeless Veterans in our area on a daily basis.
Together with the help of these two great organizations, we will hopefully bring a small amount of relief for at least a few of the homeless here in our county. It’s a small gesture, but done with so much heart! Elks Care ~Elks Share. Consider joining our Lodge so we can continue to do good work for our Hernando County community.
