Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a tragic murder-suicide that occurred on November 29, 2024, in Spring Hill.
Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call at approximately 11:25 a.m. from Anthony Coyle, 39, who reported he had just shot his brother, Robert Coyle. Anthony stated the firearm was in his bedroom and that he would wait outside for law enforcement.
According to their mother, the brothers had been arguing over Anthony’s frequent use of Robert’s vehicle. The argument escalated when Anthony retrieved a firearm and shot Robert. After making the emergency call, Anthony told his mother he didn’t want to face life in prison, then turned the gun on himself.
Both men succumbed to their injuries.
The incident has been classified as a murder-suicide, and authorities are not releasing additional details at this time.
