18-year-old Spring Hill man, Cameron John Grosso, was driving a BMW 528i, traveling southbound on Lenox Boulevard on Dec. 27 at 5:02 pm in the Glen Lakes subdivision. Near Ruby Falls Court, a 68-year-old Brooklyn, New York man was walking along the road edge when he was struck by the vehicle.
Grosso continued driving and stopped on Maybelle Drive at Lenox Boulevard, a short distance south of Ruby Falls Court. Maybelle Drive is a circle and intersects with Lenox at two points. The FHP report did not specify which Maybelle Drive intersection. (Maybelle intersections are the next two intersections south of Ruby Falls Court.)
Transported to an area hospital, the pedestrian later expired from injuries suffered during the crash. Grosso and two male passengers, aged 19 and 20, both from Spring Hill, were uninjured during the event.
Grosso was later arrested by FHP Troopers for leaving the scene of a fatal crash and attaching an unassigned license plate to the vehicle. Grosso was delivered to the Hernando County Jail.
