Brooksville, FL – Hernando County Crime Stoppers, Inc. is pleased to announce the first Crime Stoppers Art Contest. The contest is open from September 28 through November 30, 2019. Contest guidelines and entry form are available at

The artwork submitted in the contest must relate to the mission of Crime Stoppers. To help artists understand the scope of the program, they are encouraged to visit www.hernandocountycrimestoppers.com and review the information. Replications of any photos may not be submitted. The Crime Stoppers logo may not be used as the contest entry. The contest artwork is anticipated to depict the cooperation of children and citizens with law enforcement.
There will be three age divisions, with prizes as follows for each division:
First, a $100 gift card; Second, a $75 gift card; Third, a $50 gift card, and Fourth, a $25 gift card. Additionally, the twelve winning artworks will be featured on a rotating basis on the Crime Stoppers Facebook page and will be used in a planned Crime Stoppers calendar for 2021.
Four area businesses are assisting with the project as the official drop-off locations for completed art work. Hernando County Crime Stoppers gratefully acknowledges Carlisle’s Meat Market, the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce, Papa
Joe’s Italian Restaurant, and Strike City Bowling Lanes.
Perhaps you thought someone was selling drugs, but you were not sure so you didn’t tell anyone. Perhaps a person you noticed resembled a photo you saw on the evening news, or a video somewhere because law enforcement was looking for them? Perhaps you saw someone leave the scene of an accident. You thought about it more, but still said nothing. Maybe you were thinking it was none of your business.
These are the tips that should be called in, no matter how insignificant you may think the information may be. Reporting information that someone sees, hears, or knows about can be the best piece of information needed to close a case. While our Law Enforcement Personnel do their utmost to keep our citizens safe, the eyes and ears of the community play a big part in helping them do their job.
The tipster must contact Crime Stoppers via the toll-free number TipLine or by using the secure online link to submit the information. In order to qualify for reward eligibility Citizens who call in tips, or who submit tip information online are guaranteed to remain 100% anonymous. If the information provided in the tip results in an arrest, the tipster is eligible for up to a $3000 reward. Phone numbers are not recorded, citizens are never asked for their name or number.
Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization involving citizens, the media, and law enforcement to help keep our community safer. The program operates under the umbrella of the Office of the Attorney General and the state Florida Association of Crime Stoppers. Funding for the rewards program comes through grant money from the Attorney General’s office.
