Recent City of Brooksville Recognitions & Proclamations

At the City Council meeting on July 6, 2017, the City’s Beautification Board and its Chairman, Scott Renz, presented the Margaret Ghiotto Commercial Improvement Award to Roger Jacobs for improvements to his CPA/Accounting business at 246 E. Fort Dade Ave. The public is welcome to nominate residential properties or commercial businesses that have made recent improvements to their building or property. These properties must be located within the City of Brooksville. Please call the City Clerk at 352-540-3810.



At their meeting on June 19, 2017, City Council honored the memory of Brooksville natives, Jerome Brown and Augustus Brown, who both passed away tragically on June 25, 1992, 25 years ago. After graduating from Hernando High, where Jerome achieved many athletic awards in three sports, he was a star player with the University of Miami and inducted into their football Hall of Fame. Being a first round (ninth pick overall) NFL draft pick in 1987, he played for the Philadelphia Eagles. Jerome Brown was a star player for the Eagles, a beloved teammate and made his hometown Brooksville proud. The proclamation was presented to Jerome’s sister, Cynthia Jackson, surrounded by many friends and family members.



At their meeting on July 6, 2017, City Council declared July as “Parks and Recreation Month” within the City of Brooksville. Parks Director, Mike Walker, along with Parks staff and several “friends of the park” where on hand to receive the proclamation.
