Arrest Summary Excerpt: “On 8-26-17, while on routine patrol I observed a bicyclist riding a bike with no rear lighting headed west bound on Fort Dade Ave. I conducted a traffic stop on the bicycle in front of 19473 Fort Dade Ave. The rider of the bicycle was identified as Lydia M. The defendant, Chad Varhaul was riding another bicycle alongside Lydia and stopped his bicycle as well. I informed the defendant that I did not conduct a traffic stop on him due to his bicycle having proper lighting but he wished to remain on scene even after being told he was not being detained in any way. Lydia was carrying a black leather backpack type bag. Lydia gave me verbal consent to search her bag at which time the defendant stated that he put a paper bag inside of Lydia’s backpack. The defendant stated that the paper bag contained “spice” and the defendant stated that the spice and paper bag it was contained in both belonged to him.
I found the paper bag inside of Lydia’s backpack. The paper bag contained a green leafy substance that the defendant identified as “spice”. The green substance was field tested with NARK II test kit number (Nark 20023). The green substance showed positive results for synthetic cannabinoids JWH-200 and AM-2201.
The green leafy substance was later weighed at the Hernando County Jail on an OHAUS scale model C305-P with a serial number of 23392. The substance weighed a total amount of 6.0 grams.
The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County jail without incident. The defendant was charged with possession of synthetic cannabinoid over three grams and issued a total bond amount of $1,000. The defendant was given a court date of 9-25-17 at 0830 hours in room E of the Hernando County courthouse.”
Burglary suspect chased away by female resident

Arrest Summary Excerpt: “On 08/27/2017 I responded to the address located at XXX Arrowhead Avenue, Spring Hill, Florida in reference to an attempted burglary.
Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim, Cynthia, who advised that she had went to her garage to grab a drink from the refrigerator when she heard a noise come from the exterior garage roll-up door. Cynthia stated that she noticed that her unlocked exterior garage roll-up door knob was moving and the exterior garage roll-up door began to lift. Cynthia advised that she went to the exterior garage roll-up door and opened the door when she noticed an unknown Hispanic male (who was later identified as the defendant, Edwin Gonzalez) was attempting to open the exterior garage roll-up door. Cynthia stated that when she saw the defendant, the defendant had fled the premises. Cynthia advised that she went to go confront the defendant and was able to locate the defendant walking north on Thunderbird Avenue. Cynthia stated that she exchanged words with the defendant then returned to her residence where she called and waited for Law Enforcement. Cynthia described the male subject as a Hispanic male who was 5’6” approximately 160 pounds who was wearing a red shirt and white shorts.
The defendant was located in the front yard of the residence located...Thunderbird Avenue, Spring Hill, Florida matching the description from Cynthia.
A Show-Up was conducted with Cynthia by bringing her to the defendant’s location where she positively identified the defendant as the subject who attempted to make entry into her garage.
Contact was made with the defendant, who advised post Miranda that he was on Arrowhead Avenue earlier walking. The defendant denies any allegations of attempting to gain entry of Cynthia’s garage.
The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Hernando County Jail without incident. The defendant was given the bond of amount of $15,000.00 and a felony court date of 09/25/2017 at 0830 hours, in Courtroom E of the Hernando County Courthouse.”

Arrest Summary Excerpt: “On 8/27/17 at approximately 0050 hours, the defendant did enter the backyard of a residence located at... Danbury Street, Spring Hill, FL 34606 and began to knock on the windows and doors of the residence. The defendant awoke the resident owners at which time he attempted to physically fight them. The defendant then walked down Danbury Street knocking on other resident doors and windows. The defendant awoke many neighbors due to screaming and yelling obscenities as he approached their houses. The defendant was unknown to witnesses who he confronted and disturbed. Multiple witnesses provided sworn written statements advising the defendant was causing a disturbance and breaching the peace of the neighborhood.
Based on the aforementioned information probable cause did exist for the arrest of the defendant for disorderly conduct in violation of Florida Statute 877.03. The defendant was transported to the Hernando County Jail without further incident. The defendant was held on a $1000 bond and given a court date of 9/20/17.”

Arrest Summary Excerpt: “On 8/27/2017 I responded to ... Wake Robin Dr., in reference to a suspicious person, who was lying on the driveway of the listed address. The complainant advised they noticed the subject on the ground, and did not recognize him to be the neighbor who lives alone at the address. The suspect identified himself as Adam Crespo. Post Miranda the defendant was asked if he lived at the address and he said no, that he was staying across the street with a female named Chris, and then came to this location to see a man named Chris. The defendant later changed his story and said he was going to see a female named Chris and had come from the house of a male friend named Chris. The defendant later said he left a male friend named Chris’ house to go to the house of another male friend, also named Chris, and fell asleep on the driveway once he arrived. The defendant was unable to provide any last names for any of the people he was claiming to have known in the area.
The defendant had a black backpack with him, and visible from outside of the bag was a realistic looking black pellet gun pistol, without an orange tip. Inside the bag, which was open at the time, a syringe was also located, which later tested for methamphetamine. A search of the suspect yielded another syringe, which was found in his right front pocket. The defendant stated the two syringes are used for injecting illegal drugs. Also located inside the defendant’s backpack was a green leafy substance, which tested positive for cannabis, weighing in at .1 grams.
Contact was made with the owner of the residence, who was not named Chris at all, but was a man, who advised the defendant knocked on his door at 0300 hours, and asked him to come outside, which he refused, and told the defendant to leave, stating that he was not supposed to have remained at the house.
The defendant was transported to the Hernando County Jail where he is being held on $3,000 bond, and given a court date of 9/20/2017 at 0900 hours in courtroom B.”

Arrest Summary Excerpt: “On 08272017, the victim, Amber C, contacted the Sheriff’s Office in reference to being hit in the face by the defendant, her live in boyfriend of ten years, Daniel Powlick. When contact was made with the victim, she advised that she and defendant got into an argument over a shoulder brace which she had purchased, and when she grabbed the shoulder brace, the defendant hit her on the right side of her face.
I did observe slight redness to the right cheek of the victim. When contact was made with the defendant, who had been previously consuming alcohol and was asleep, advised that he and the victim did get into a verbal argument which escalated and became physical, due to the victim’s statement and redness observed.

Arrest Summary Excerpt: “On 8-27-17, I responded to ...Rowan Rd in reference to a Battery. Upon arrival, contact was made with the victim, Richard H. The victim stated that his fiancé of four years whom he resides with, (the defendant) Melanie Olson and he got into a verbal altercation after they had been consuming alcohol. The victim stated that the defendant came face to face with him at which time the defendant pushed him in the face, which caused a scratch wound on his chin. The victim did have a scratch on his chin that was consistent with his statement.
I made contact with the defendant who stated that she and the victim had been drinking. The defendant stated that the victim pushed her multiple times after they engaged in a verbal altercation. The defendant stated that the victim “tore the house up” and advised that she never put her hands on the victim. The defendant then stated that she did push the victim after he pushed her and may have scratched his face. It should be noted that the defendant’s statement changed multiple times and the house was not in disarray. The defendant also did not have any visible injuries.
The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County jail without incident. The defendant was charged with Domestic Battery and issued no bond. The defendant was given a court date of 9-20-17 at 0900 hours in Courtroom B of the Hernando County Courthouse.”
Broken Tail Light Leads to Drug Arrest

Arrest Summary Excerpt: “On 08/28/2017, a traffic stop was conducted on a white Acura sedan for having broken tag lights.
Upon making contact with the driver the smell of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle.
It should be noted K9 Officer Derryberry responded to the scene along with his K9 narcotic dog. The K9 narcotic dog ran the vehicle and alerted to the presence of an illegal substance inside of it.
It should also be noted the defendant/owner of the vehicle/passenger in the vehicle (Destiny Johnston Byrd) consented to a search of the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle yielded a black and white purse with a pink J on it found inside of the driver side door handle. Inside of the purse 3 white pills with the marking 3 on one side and M on the other were found. There was also a plastic baggie with a white powdery residue found under the seat of the passenger where the defendant was sitting.
The pills were identified as Acetaminophen and Codeine Phosphate using drugs.com
The defendant stated they were her pills and that she has a prescription for them in Alabama.
The white powdery substance tested positive for methamphetamine using NARCO Test Pouch 923.
The Acetaminophen and Codeine Phosphate pills and the plastic baggy containing methamphetamine were weighed using scale model C305-P at the Hernando County Detention Center. The pills had a total weight of 0.9 grams and the baggy containing methamphetamine had a total weight of 0.1 grams.
The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County Jail without incident. The defendant is currently being held on $1,000.00 bond per the bond schedule for Possession of Acetaminophen Codeine and $1,000.00 bond per the bond schedule for Possession of Methamphetamine for a total bond of $2,000.00 per the bond schedule. The defendant has a felony arraignment date of 09/25/17 at 0830 hours, in courtroom E of the Hernando County Court House.”
Man in Wheelchair Threatens Brothers with a Knife

Arrest Summary Excerpt: “On 08282017, I was dispatched to the residence located at... Ashland Drive in reference to a weapons disturbance, which was later reclassified to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon my arrival of the residence contact was made with the victim... who stated that his brother the defendant(James Neeb) threatened him with a knife. The victim advised that he and the defendant were arguing, at which time the defendant attempted to punch him in the face with a closed fist while in the dining room of said residence. The victim advised that he stuck the defendant several times with a closed fist, in an attempt to stop the defendant from attacking him. The defendant then responded to his bedroom returning with a knife in his hand, stating that he was going to stab the victim. The victim advised that he was scared that the defendant was going to stab him, due to him being enraged and his history of violence, as well as the fact that the defendant continued to close the already short distance between the two.
Contact was then made with the defendant who stated that he and his brother (victim) were arguing in the dining room of the house, at which time he tried to punch his brother. The defendant further stated that the victim then punched him in the face several times, at which time he responded to his bedroom and retrieved a knife. The defendant explained that he returned to the dining room where he threatened to stab the victim with the knife.
Independent witnesses in the residence stated the same as both parties, corroborating their accounts on what happened.
While en route to the jail, a wants and warrants check was conducted via FCIC/NCIC for the defendant at which time it was learned that the defendant is the respondent of an active restraining order. It was learned that the defendant’s mother is the petitioner of the restraining order.
At the time if this investigation [the mother] was present at the residence while this incident occurred. Contact was made with [her] who stated that she was aware that there was a restraining order in place, and that she was not concerned with the restraining order.
I spoke with the defendant who stated that he was well aware of the restraining order, however, he believed that he was allowed to be there because his mother took him back to the residence, when he was released from jail.
This is domestic in nature due to both parties being biological brothers and living in the residence together.
James was subsequently arrested and transported to the Hernando County Jail without incident. James is being held on a no bond status due to this being domestic in nature.
James was issued a court date of 09252017 at 0830hrs at the Hernando County Courthouse.”
