The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce is having the FEBRUARY Monthly Membership Meeting at Silverthorn Country Club, 4550 Golf Club Lane, Brooksville on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at 7:15 am. Network with local businesses and meet your next customer.

Drive to Benefit People Helping People

UUCIP Is conducting a Book Drive to support People Helping People from Jan. 1 through March 31, 2017.
The Unitarian Universalist Church in the Pines in Weeki Wachee is asking for your unwanted books to help People Helping People (PHP) better serve the under-employed and homeless of Hernando County.
The PHP constituents who are taking PHP job-training classes would appreciate practical and reference books such as how to compose a business letter, various computer skills for dummies (Word, spreadsheets, PageMaker, PowerPoint, Excel, etc), cookbooks, and textbooks at any level in math and English. All donations are tax-deductible.
If you have such books lying around (or you find something similar on your travels), please set them aside for this project which runs from January 1 through March 31. For more information or to schedule a pick-up call 352-600-9555.

Business To Business Networking Meetings

Start your week with the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce’s Business To Business Networking. The group will meet every Monday morning, beginning at 7:00am to 9:30am. The group provides continental breakfast and networking opportunities.

PHSC Safety and Security Summit

Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) will host a Safety and Security Summit on Thursday, February 23, from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, February 24, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Saint Leo University, in Saint Leo, Fla., 33701 FL-52 in the Stuvoirdent Council Center.
The two-day event, themed “Cyber Threats, Human Trafficking and Guns,” offers attendees an insightful view into the many challenges facing the agencies charged with protecting citizens. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Pasco Sheriff’s Office will outline issues on the first day of the event, and discuss solutions on the second day.
The event will appeal to a wide audience, including representatives in healthcare, banking, and retail, students and educators from K-12 through the university level, law enforcement officials, as well as members of churches and religious organizations.
The event is free and open to the public with 200 seats available. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be served on both days of the event at no charge to guests, as long as supplies last. For more information call 1.855.NOW.PHSC, or visit
The Safety and Security Summit is being presented by PHSC’s President’s Institute for College Preparation, Completion, Certification and Leadership Development in collaboration with ATF, Homeland Security, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and Saint Leo University.
