Maturity does not necessarily come with growing older. There are young people who are appropriate beyond their years while older individuals can make ridiculous choices. Life experiences give a person the opportunity to learn how to handle the frustration and unexpected incidents of living.

Many American people have bought into “free healthcare” hook, line and sinker. Currently many politicians are peddling the idea that everyone has a “right” to free college tuition, food, housing, vacations, cellphones and most definitely health care. This extensive list of freebee promises has always been the magnet used by Marxists to win the allegiance of naïve, noncritical thinking people.

While you use your bully pulpit to lecture us on your version of reality and reasons for white privilege bigotry towards blacks, Americans have been a captive audience. You constantly go back to slavery as if the United States was the only nation to practice it when the nation was founded. The truth is having slaves was and is a worldwide phenomena that was common throughout history and exists even today. All major civilizations and religious groups such as Jews, Christians, Muslims and Hindus were enslaved and enslaved others.

Our founding fathers became outlaws of King George III’s regime. Many had strong allegiance as some emigrated from England while most were American born. They were citizens of the colonies but were driven into becoming revolutionaries that disregarded the laws that were imposed from England. King George III’s selective enforcement of his decrees and unfair taxes without representation to the people of the American colonies created contempt for his government’s arbitrary treatment of the colonies.

A 27-year experiment to erase eons of old cultures to unite into one European Union has been repudiated by Great Britain. It is amazing that it has lasted as long as it has with these radically different cultures and their financial promises that never materialized for the people. The European International Banking elites immediately rushed in after the Brexit vote to create a financial scare by showing losses totaling over 2 trillion dollars to intimidate any other EU member from following England’s decision.

Letter to the Editor: from Pat Miketinac

Thank you very much for the article in your paper about the Perry Oldenburg WEA. We have lived 3 miles from there for 36 years and didn't even know it was there, until we saw the legal notice for the management plan meeting. We distributed about 2 dozen copies of the notice to addresses near POWEA, but none of them responded. Shirley and I and a friend were the only people to attend from the general public. 4 others had vested interests in the area, such as hydrology, native plants, and hiking trails. There were at least 7 FWC representatives there.

There are plenty of people who release false personal information on someone to destroy that person, politician or businessman’s career. The intent of the pronouncement is to hurt others not to protect unaware and innocent people. The accusations they make are mostly based on innuendo, which is stated to promote them over an adversary or seek revenge over a perceived wrong. The same nasty intentions can motivate a whistleblower. Whistleblowers are not always honorable guys; they can be scoundrels too.

It is disconcerting to conservatives that the Republican Party talks a good game but never seems to deliver. Their track record is becoming impossible to ignore. America in 2010 and 2014 gave Republicans a mandate to stifle President Obama’s transformation of our country into a socialist state.

The British got it right, in time for America's Independence Day

Hernando Sun Staff

The Avenue in the Rain by Childe Hassam, 1971

The fourth of July is typically celebrated by fireworks and backyard barbeques. It is a time for families and neighbors to get together to celebrate our American way of life. Without Independence, that way of life would be much different. Although fireworks and barbeques are enjoyable, we also need to reflect on how we, as a nation, can keep our independence for the generations to come.
