2025 Dr. Carter G. Woodson Black History Month Award

Award Ceremony Subject: Ruth Lee Black, a Brooksville native and 1981 Hernando High School graduate will be awarded the 2025 Dr. Carter G. Woodson Black History Month Award by the African American Heritage Society of East Pasco County, Inc., for preserving African American life and history through her photography/videography. Award recipients have included former Pasco-Hernando State College President Dr. Robert W. Judson and former Hernando County School District Educator Lorenzo Hamilton. The Award is named in honor of the founder of Black History Month (1926) historian, Dr. Carter G. Woodson. Date: Saturday, February 1, 2025 Time: 3 p.m. Place: Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 27064 Church Road, Brooksville The ceremony is a potluck event and is free and open to the public.
