The 10th annual Hoedown for the Hungry, with proceeds benefitting People Helping People in Hernando County and its many programs, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 23. Because of the recent uprise in COVID cases in Hernando County, the event will again be virtual.
Although the demand from hungry people for food is increasing, donations are significantly down, so fundraising is even more important.
– Tickets: individuals $50 / couples $75
– Business ads: From $50 to $300
– Sponsorships : $1,000 – $5,000
The event will consist of a five-star meal (to go) and opportunity basket drawings.
Menu options are Beef Tenderloin; Bacon Wrapped Jumbo Shrimp; Chicken Cordon Bleu in Bacon; and Eggplant Parmesan.
We will publish an advertising book to give out to local businesses and their customers to show those who are supporting our community.
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated as PHP continues to take a bite out of hunger in Hernando County!

ABOUT US
The Hernando Sun is a locally owned weekly newspaper. The founders of the newspaper are Rocco and Julie Maglio. They saw the need for a newspaper when the Hernando Today newspaper closed their doors in 2014. Rocco is from Hernando, he went to school from Moton Elementary through Hernando High. Growing up in Hernando enhances his ability to provide background to ongoing issues. The Hernando Sun Printed their first issue in March 2015. They published monthly for a year before increasing to a weekly printing. The newspaper is delivered through the US mail, so it arrives with your mail.
