Sheriff’s Office MSTU concept re-emerges with Brooksville budget woes

During Correspondence to Note of the Tuesday Aug. 4, 2017 BOCC meeting, Commissioner Champion brought up for discussion the recent financial turmoil in the City of Brooksville. The subject rehashed some old turmoil among commissioners in relation to a potential Sheriff’s Office Municipal Service Taxation Unit (MSTU).

Commission reverts select FBO minimum operating standards to 2004 requirements

During the July 25, 2017 Commission Meeting, Jet ICU came before the board asking for a determination on whether they could become a Fixed Base Operator (FBO). Since the time of their last application, the Minimum Operating Standards have been increased. Technically the county could not consider their last application since the denial was never appealed and their current application is under the new standards which the company cannot meet. This brought to the forefront the issue that opponents of the new standards warned of.

USDA approves the Livestock Forage Program for Pasco and Hernando Counties

Producers in Pasco and Hernando Counties are eligible to apply for 2017 Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) benefits on native and improved pasture.

LFP provides Compensation to eligible livestock producers who suffered grazing losses for covered livestock due to drought on privately owned or leased land or fire on federally managed land.

$5000 consultant review fee approved for traffic analysis of planned development projects

A public hearing was held at the July 25th Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) meeting to approve an additional $5000.00 base fee to cover outside consultant review of Transportation Analysis Studies when required for land use applications to include Planned Development Projects with associated Master Plans, Rezonings, Development of Regional Impact and Comprehensive Plan Level Evaluations.

In the event an outside consultant is not needed, the fee will be refunded to the applicant, and any amount above the base fee will be billed to the applicant.

Commission will give Jet ICU shot at becoming airport FBO

Worldwide Aircraft Services, Inc. dba Jet ICU has been attempting to become a fixed based operator (FBO) at the Brooksville Tampa-Bay Regional Airport for approximately five years. Currently there is only one FBO at the airport, American Aviation. The county previously denied Jet ICU’s application to become a FBO in March 2015 due to an incomplete application.

STATE OFFERS TAX `HOLIDAY' FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL SHOPPERS

THE CAPITAL, TALLAHASSEE, August 2, 2017......... With computers returned to the discount list, Florida retailers are readying for back-to-school shoppers this weekend during the state's sales-tax “holiday.”

The holiday, which will run Friday through Sunday is a large part of a tax-cut package (HB 7109) that lawmakers passed this spring. The package is projected to provide $91.6 million in tax breaks during the budget year that started July 1.
