Three county parks soon to accept credit cards only at meters

(Brooksville, FL) The Hernando County Parks and Recreation Department announces that effective March 30, 2018, credit cards will be the only form of payment accepted at parking meters located at the following locations:

Rogers Park

Hernando Beach Boat Ramp

Bayport Park

Staff members at the Alfred McKethan/Pine Island Park will continue to accept cash or credit card at the gate.

Gov. Rick Scott, "In honor and remembrance of the victims of the senseless violence committed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida. The flags shall be lowered immediately and remain at half-staff until sunset on Monday, February 19, 2018."

For the better half of the 2017-2018 varsity basketball season in the North Suncoast, one headline came from right here in Hernando County: “Could Nature Coast erase the sting of losing the district championship to county rival Central last season?” While it is true that NCT won when it mattered most last year, defeating Central on their court in the Sweet 16, that feeling of hosting the regional playoffs means so much to these young athletes. Like most years in the past, NCT entered the tournament as the #1 seed and the favorite to win, with almost every other team still playing catch-up.

Njoy Spirits is a family operated Florida Whiskey distillery on 80 acres in the middle of the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area. They purchased their property in 2002 and have had many obstacles in order to produce 3 different award-winning products, all Florida grown. The Wild Buck American Rye Whiskey uses 100% rye whiskey with no artificial flavorings or color. It is aged in custom made charred American oak barrels and allowed to develop in the Florida Climate.

GDPR is going to affect us all

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was adopted by the European Union (EU) in April 2016. The GDPR requires that businesses protect EU Citizens’ privacy and personal data on transactions that take place in the EU.

The GDPR is going to start being enforced May 25, 2018. Companies are required to protect an individual’s IP address, browser cookie, and RFID tags in the same manner as they would secure that person’s name, address and Social Security number.
