NOTICE OF SCHOOL BOARD PUBLIC HEARING AND FINAL ADOPTION OF POLICY

Notice is hereby given that the School Board of Hernando County, Florida will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at 6:00 PM or as soon thereafter as it may be called up, in the School Board Room, 919 North Broad Street, Brooksville, Florida. Such hearing shall be for the purpose of final approval of the following:

Revised 2017-18 Hernando County School District Dual Enrollment Proceudres Handbook
Revised 2017-18 Hernando County School District Student Code of Conduct
Revised 2017-18 Hernando County School District Athletic Handbook
Revised 2017-18 Hernando County School District Student Progression Plan and Procedures Handbook

The revised 2017-18 Hernando County School District Handbooks were granted tentative approval at a public workshop on June 27, 2017.

A copy of the revised Hernando County eSchool Handbook is available for inspection in the offices of the Superintendent. It will also be posted to the School Board’s electronic agenda for the July 25, 2017 meeting. The electronic agenda can be accessed via the District’s website: www.hernandoschools.org.

The School Board has the authority to adopt this handbook pursuant to sections 1001.41, 1001.42 and 1001.43 of the Florida Statutes. Any person who is affected by the proposed plan may present evidence, testimony and/or argument pertinent to the issue at the public hearing.

If requested in writing and not deemed unnecessary by the agency head, a rule development workshop will be noticed in the Hernando Sun and the Board’s website.

If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the Board with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he/she will need a record of the proceedings and for such purpose he/she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations to participate in this meeting is asked to advise the agency at least 5 days before the meeting by contacting Kelly A. The School Board does not anticipate any the adoption of these policies will (1) have an adverse impact on small business; or (2) directly or indirectly increase regulatory costs in excess of $200,000 in the aggregate in the state within 1 year after the implementation of the rule. Any person who wishes to provide information regarding a statement of estimated regulatory costs, or provide a proposal for a lower cost regulatory alternative must do so in writing within 21 days of this notice.
