Brooksville, Florida (July 18, 2024) – The City of Brooksville is seeking letters of interest from Brooksville residents interested in serving as a City Council Member to fill the vacated Seat #4 due to the resignation of Casey Thieryung. After the letters are received, and at the next available Council meeting, the remaining City Council members will select an eligible resident to fill Seat 4 until the December 2, 2024 Council meeting, when the newly elected person will be sworn in.

Those interested in an appointment to the Council seat must submit a letter of interest with resume/qualifications to the Brooksville City Clerk. Letters of interest must be received no later than 12:00 Noon on Friday, August 9, 2024. Letters may be mailed or delivered to Brooksville City Hall, Attn: City Clerk, 201 Howell Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601. Interested residents must also provide proof of City residency for one year prior to August 9, 2024, a current Florida driver’s license and current Hernando County voter registration card.

The selected resident will be required to take an Oath of Office and complete a Financial Disclosure Form for formal appointment.

Seat 4 will then be on the Hernando County Ballot in November 2024 for election to fill the remainder of the unexpired term through December 2026.
