Private search brings closure for Marvella family

(STAFF)

There was initially a three day search by FHP for 30 year old Paul Marvella who disappeared in January 2017. The Marvella family decided to hire a private dredger to continue the search. They obtained permitting on Friday March 3, 2017 to begin dredging a small area where Paul’s vehicle was found.

On March 7, human remains were recovered from the marshy area, known as Payne’s Prairie (I-75 southbound – west shoulder) and sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office stated, "We have every reason to believe the remains are that of Paul Anthony Marvella. Please keep the Marvella family in your thoughts and prayers at this time."

Marvella worked for Alternative Transportation Services and was on his return trip home from Jacksonville when he disappeared.
