Stabbing - 151 Estates Avenue

On 04-26-16 at approximately 4:11 a.m., the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting a Stabbing at 151 Estates Avenue in Brooksville.

Hernando County Sheriff's deputies and Hernando County Fire/Rescue were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered three individuals with stab wounds. All three individuals were treated on scene by Hernando County Fire/Rescue and then airlifted to a local trauma center.

The suspect in this case has been accounted for. There is NO DANGER to the community.

Missing Endangered Juvenile: Rhiannon Fulton

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is requesting assistance from our media partners and the community in locating a MISSING ENDANGERED JUVENILE.

Rhiannon Sierra Fulton was last seen on 03-04-2016. Rhiannon left her residence in the area of Omaha Circle in Spring Hill sometime between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. She has not been seen or heard from since.

Rhiannon does suffer from a medical disorder and her family believes that she did not take her medication with her.

Register to Vote in time for the Presidential Preference Primary

To assist voters with registering to vote for the upcoming Presidential Preference Primary the Hernando County Supervisor of Elections Office will be open at their Forest Oaks office on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 8:00am-4:00pm. The Brooksville office will be closed in observance of Presidents Day.

A Silver Alert has been issued 2/5/16

Harry Dean Sperry was last seen on 02-05-16 at approximately 11 a.m., when he drove away from his residence on the extreme east side of Hernando County (Webster mailing address).

Mr. Sperry was driving a dark green, 2000 Chevrolet Silverado - 1500, bearing Florida tag/G607PS. The truck has gold drawings on the side and back.

Mr. Sperry suffers from Dementia (and other medical issues).

College and Career Expo

BROOKSVILLE- Hernando County School District’s first College and Career Readiness Expo will take place on January 28th from 5:30-7:30PM at Pasco-Hernando State College, Spring Hill Campus. This event is open to all middle school students in the district and their families. The 2 hour expo will provide information about Career and Technical, Fine Arts, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Duel Enrollment options for students entering high school.

Scholarships Available through Supervisor of Elections Association

There are three $1200 scholarships available through the Florida State Association of Supervisor of Elections (FSASE). In order to qualify students must have completed 2 years of Junior College or 2 years of undergraduate study as part of a Political Science, Public or Business Administration or Journalism/Mass Communications major. They must be enrolled or accepted at a Senior College or university in Florida.

The Hernando County BOCC declared November 15-21, 2015 as National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in Hernando County. Supporting the proclamation are: Veda Ramirez, Hernando Co.
