Frank Thomas Vohun

Frank Thomas Vohun, age 74 of Carrollton, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, after his long battle with dementia. He was born June 6, 1947 in Richmond, Virginia, son of the late Frank Vohun and the late Rose Stvrtecky Vohun.

Those that knew Frank, were well aware of his love for the game of football. From his time as an All-State Football, Basketball, and Baseball player at Hernando County High, in Brooksville, Fl to Florida State, to Florida A&M where he received his Master’s Degree, to the numerous colleges and high schools he has coached, football has provided many opportunities and memories for him and his family. Each community, throughout his 44-year career, that he and his family called “home”, has and will forever be close to their hearts. Frank was also a Past President of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association. He took great pride in his membership and relationships with fellow coaches.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Devore Vohun. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of almost 31 years, Debra Belt Vohun of Carrollton; his sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Ashley Vohun, Caleb and Amy Roth, Jesse and Lara Roth, and Matthew and Erica Vohun; six grandchildren, Braddock Vohun, Brenley Vohun, Kayla Roth, Savannah Roth, William Roth, Meri Grace Roth; sister and brother-in-law, Rose Marie and Howard King; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be conducted Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM from Midway Church with Dr. Barry Thompson officiating. Jim Morrell and Brent Vohun will render the eulogy. Honorary pallbearers will be Judson Dyer, Jim Morrell, David Snell, Larry Milligan, and Tommy Parker. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.

Frank took great pride in wearing the school colors of each college and high school that entrusted him with their football program, so with that being said, the family requests everyone to wear their school colors or school jersey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Homestead Hospice at www.homesteadhospice.com, the Carroll County Fire Station #3 at P.O. Box 338, Carrollton, GA 30112, or to your respective school athletic booster club.

Messages of condolences can be sent to the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
