"Innocent until proven guilty”
Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be?

Stage West Community Playhouse is currently showing 12 Angry Men and that phrase is integral to the story. According to Director W Paul Wade “[Those] four words force any jury to check their baggage at the door and review the case with a dispassionate eye.”

A Welcome Invasion of Cedar Key
If you travel 1 hour and 35 minutes north on US 19 you will find a unique and quaint town full of history and lore called Cedar Key.
Recently Cedar Key was invaded by Hurricane Hermine and a week and a half later, overrun by pirates from all parts of Florida and Georgia.
Joe Catalano Owner and Operator at Bard Productions LLC, put the event together with the help of the pirate community.  This is the fourth year the event entertained the enthusiastic swashbucklers and sea dogs.

Not only is it a fantastic opportunity for artists to gain exposure regarding their work, but it’s also a rewarding experience for the community.

A view of Clearwater Beach from the pier

Clearwater Beach, just an hour south of Hernando County, is a good option if you have a hankering for sand, sun and clear calm Gulf waters.

It is a great beach option for families as there is a playground area, a pier, public restrooms and showers to rinse off.

A promenade along Mandalay Avenue offers shops and restaurants for beachgoers and visitors.

Stage West’s production of Legally Blonde Jr was absolutely amazing. If I didn’t have prior knowledge that the cast was comprised mainly of teenagers, I wouldn’t have believed it. Not only was the acting superb, but the choreography was spectacular and dancing was flawless. Director Jennifer Vilardi of Hernando Performing Arts Academy definitely knows what she’s doing!

Becky Jack’s Food Shack is a restaurant that is often mentioned by locals as a place you must try. It is on Cortez Boulevard past Weeki Wachee Springs State Park on the way to Bayport.

The restaurant is on the south side of the road and is easily spotted because of their brightly colored sign and pink and yellow car with a surfboard on top and Becky Jack’s painted on the side.

Are you looking for something to do in the upcoming year? How about heading to the theatre and supporting a local production?

Local theatre companies are an important element to the vitality and vibrancy of a community. Theatre brings a number of people together to work towards a common goal. It allows local artists (whether they are actors, set or prop designers, or writers) to showcase their talent. Supporting local theatre is a great way to be involved in the community and support your area’s local artists!
