Arrest Made In Home Invasion Robbery

On 04-13-2016 at approximately 6 a.m., Hernando County deputies were dispatched to a Home Invasion Robbery at 4456 Mariner Boulevard in Spring Hill.

The victim, David Acebey, advised deputies that shortly after his girlfriend left for work he was awakened with a flashlight and a gun being pointied at his head. He immediately identified the suspect as a former roommate, Carl Harris, as Harris did not have his face concealed.

On 03-30-16, the victim, 87-year-old Lynne Tresness, was walking back to his residence from his shed when he observed a white male in his yard near his back door. The male said that his mother's car had broken down in the Croom Forest and asked Tresness for a ride. The male also asked Tresness for a drink of water.

Tresness took the male inside for a glass of water then the two left Tresness' residence on Thackeray Street in Nobleton to head to the Croom Forest. Tresness was driving his 2003 gold Buick LeSabre; the male, who never provided a name, rode in the passenger seat.

Shooting in South Brooksville

A shooting occurred around 10:30 am on March 16 at the corner of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Twigg Street. A male caller who had been shot notified the 9-1-1 dispatcher at 10:32 a.m.

The victim was uncooperative with law enforcement when they arrived, but was air lifted to a local trauma center. According to the Sheriff's Office his injuries are currently considered non-life threatening. Detectives are in the area investigating the incident and are trying to identify any witnesses.

Stabbing Victim Discovered at Crash Scene, Person of Interest Apprehended

In the wee hours of the morning detectives discovered a victim of a stabbing when they responded to a traffic crash in the area of Spring Hill Drive and Pond Circle. The victim's injuries were not life threatening.

The "Person of Interest" Ian Michael Brunker in this case was apprehended by police this afternoon without incident at a residence in Spring Hill. Brunker is wanted in an unrelated warrant for his arrest.

Donna Sumners six months before her disappearance

Twenty-two years ago, Donna Sumners disappeared from the Candleglow apartments in Brooksville. Now that both of her parents have passed away without finding closure, Donna's family is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts.

Donna grew up in Heflin, Alabama where her sister Deborah Bright still resides. Donna met her husband Monroe Sumners while attending high school in Heflin. The two married and had a son. Monroe Sumners joined the Army and served in the Persian Gulf War. After his deployment, he worked as an Army Recruiter in Brooksville.

Stolen Motorcycle leads to Aerial Pursuit into Pasco County

An attempt to sell a motorcycle on Facebook did not go so well for Victor Rosario of Hillsborough County which ultimately ended in an aerial pursuit into Pasco county for the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. He posted the CBR600 motorcycle on the social media site for $2500.

Dayne Ryan Anthony Hall, convicted felon, who had been staying at the Motel 6 on Commercial and Cortez Blvd, responded to the post saying he would be willing to pay the asking price.

Silverthorn Home Invasion, Then Man Shoots Himself at Hospital in Separate Incident

January 26th, 2016 was a busy evening for law enforcement.

Around 4:30pm, the Sheriff's department received several phone calls involving a home invasion in the Silverthorn gated community indicating there were two women injured. Further calls from residents in the area stated that one victim was seriously injured at the residence while the other was pursuing the suspect. The suspect was apprehended by authorities after he was spotted attempting to cross the Suncoast Parkway. The suspect was identified as Joseph Panarese.

Spring Hill Man Pleaded Guilty to False Statements for HUD Loan

Back in September of 2010, Jason and Melinda Pond of Spring Hill applied for assistance through the Hernando County Neighborhood Stabilization Program. They were approved to receive a $49,650 loan for a home they purchased for $110,000. Later it was discovered that they omitted several assets in order to receive the loan as well as neglecting to mention a past SHIP loan for a different property they owned on Omaha Circle.

The IRS IP PIN is a 6-digit number assigned to eligible taxpayers to help prevent the misuse of their Social Security number (SSN) on fraudulent federal income tax returns. The IP PIN helps to verify a taxpayer's identity and accept their electronic or paper tax return.
