The Copper Kitchen — a less than traditional beauty on wheels ready to drive your tastebuds wild

The Copper Kitchen in Spring Hill

The Temptations singing “My Girl” filled the air in and around Rodney Jones’ The Copper Kitchen food truck and customers relaxed on nearby picnic tables beneath brightly colored, windsails as Jones prepared their dishes.

This is no ordinary lonchera. This food truck doesn’t move. It’s more an eclectic outdoor restaurant that happens to serve food from a truck — a very distinctive truck.

Deli World a traditional deli in Brooksville

October 03, 2016 - 12:01

Located just west of downtown Brooksville there is what you could call a little hole-in-the-wall deli that is worth checking out. Some of my favorite haunts are the modest hometown eateries that serve up a good meal without the attitude of pricier more upscale establishments. As the name implies, Deli World serves deli fare including soups, sandwiches, and salads at very reasonable prices.

Steak Boss in Brooksville

Steak Boss carries Philadelphia and California fare. They are located in a small distinctive red and black building on Highway 50 near Winter Street. It can be accessed from State Road 50 heading east or from Wiscon Road if you are heading west.
They opened about 4 years ago.

Little Lady Cafe: quaint, small town restaurant

Little Lady Cafe

Across from the courthouse there is a red building that is home to the Little Lady Cafe. The Little Lady Cafe is located off of South Brooksville Avenue across the street from the old police station/fire station. Little Lady Cafe is an American traditional restaurant. The staff is very friendly and happily greet you when you walk in the door.

Established in 2014, the owners come from a restaurant family - their relative runs the Howie’s Family Restaurant in Bushnell.

Becky Jack’s Food Shack is a restaurant that is often mentioned by locals as a place you must try. It is on Cortez Boulevard past Weeki Wachee Springs State Park on the way to Bayport.

The restaurant is on the south side of the road and is easily spotted because of their brightly colored sign and pink and yellow car with a surfboard on top and Becky Jack’s painted on the side.

Gennaro's Pizza and Restaurant

Chicken Caccitore, Gennaro's

Gennaro’s Pizza and Restaurant is located in the Heather’s shopping plaza. Recently an acquaintance raved about how wonderful their Chicken Cacciatore was, so we had to check it out.

Genarro’s has been at their current location for seven years. They originally opened in 1990 in Palm Harbor.

The owners, Joe and Cathy Guardascione are very friendly and make it a point to greet and talk with their customers. The waitress told us that many of their customers are regulars and veal dishes are very popular there.

Deep South Family Bar-B-Que

July 21, 2016 - 18:25

On the Corner of Highway 50 and Cedar Lane there is an old style barbecue joint. You order what you want at the window and can sit at one of a number of picnic tables in the rustic dining area. They bring the food out to you when it’s ready. While they prepare the food, you will be entertained by the many posters and signs that deck the walls.
