Winner: Donald Trump, President of the United States

County: 59,029 votes (62.32%).
State: 4,591,156 (49%), Clinton (48%)
USA: 276 electoral votes (AZ, MI not included), Clinton 218 (AZ, MI not included)

Both the Governor of Florida and incoming President of the United States are now both political outsiders. Neither Scott nor Trump ran traditional campaigns and received little support from traditional media. Newspapers overwhelmingly supported Hillary Clinton.

Republicans sweep Hernando- Election 2016

It was a huge night for Hernando County Republicans, as they won every election the party was on the ballot for. Along with Representative Blaise Ingoglia keeping his seat in the Florida House of Representatives for District 35 and John Emerson continuing on as Property Appraiser, the Board of County Commissioners also saw John Allocco unseat Democratic incumbent Diane Rowden in District Three and Steve Champion take over District Five. The Supervisor of Elections, Shirley Anderson was also re-elected.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA SOARS TO APPROVAL

THE CAPITAL, TALLAHASSEE, November 8, 2016.......... Stunning even some of the proposal's most avid supporters, Florida voters Tuesday overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment legalizing medical marijuana for patients with a broad swath of conditions.

Amendment 2, "Use of Marijuana for Debilitating Medical Conditions," received at least 70 percent of the vote, far greater than the 60 percent required for passage of constitutional amendments in Florida.

Election Day Service at Holy Cross Lutheran in Spring Hill

On Election Day, Holy Cross Lutheran Church will offer a special service to reconcile the struggles citizens have faced during this election cycle. The service will be the first of its kind for Holy Cross Lutheran. Pastor Peter Morey who has been with Holy Cross Lutheran in Spring Hill since 2014, expressed deep concern with the toll the election has taken on spirituality in America.

"I have members of my congregation who are no longer welcome in their family's homes."

CRITICS ASK SUPREME COURT TO BLOCK SOLAR AMENDMENT

THE CAPITAL, TALLAHASSEE, November 2, 2016.......... Opponents of a controversial solar-energy ballot initiative asked the Florida Supreme Court on Wednesday to again review the ballot language and to strike down the proposed constitutional amendment.

But a spokeswoman for Consumers for Smart Solar, a group sponsoring what is known as Amendment 1, was quick to call the request --- filed with less than a week remaining in the campaign --- "political grandstanding."

Supervisor of Elections working through ballot issues affecting Brooksville City Council race

The Brooksville City Council race between Frankie Burnett and Joe Bernardini did not appear on the ballots of sixty-five voters who recently became residents of the City of Brooksville through city annexations. The Supervisor of Elections, Shirley Anderson, explained that her office was never informed of the change by the City of Brooksville.

The distribution lists on the last three city annexations did not include the Supervisor of Elections Office.
