The owners, Jeanne and Manuel Tsongranis, were raised in traditional Greek and Italian homes, and rely on their family tradition of fresh ingredients and good taste. They make trips to the market everyday and handpick only the freshest seasonal ingredients to make their menu items the tastiest you’ll come across in Florida.

At Eli’s Cafe, you’re family

Eli’s cafe is located on US19 in the Rural King plaza. There is a counter in the front and you have to walk down a short hall to get to the dining room. There is a medium sized dining room and they can accommodate decent sized parties.

I don’t think I’ve ever been at a restaurant where the owner was so interactive with customers. It’s like walking into Eli’s living room. Eli greets his customers with a hug or introduces himself with a handshake. Eli and the staff joke with the customers and they tell awesome stories.

Around the world, Christmas Day is a time when people chomp their way through all sorts of weird and wonderful festive fare and each country has its own particular “must-have” for every table. Here’s a small selection.

In a few European countries, the main Christmas meal is celebrated on Christmas Eve - Dec. 24, and ne’er a slice of turkey can be found. This “meatless” custom dates back from the Roman Catholic tradition of abstinence.

Steam 33 — Café Bistro

Anew Mediterranean cafe Steam 33 has opened across from the courthouse in downtown Brooksville. It is located in the Jennings building which has been home to a number of restaurants in the recent past.

Our waiter gave us a business card of the owner, since it was our first time visiting the restaurant. It said owner Rodrigo Villa-Lobos. We asked where Rodrigo was and he stopped by our table to talk. It is nice to visit small businesses where the proprietor is on premises and can correct any issues.
